Create Videos to Reinforce Training and Improve Outcomes

by Matthew Wygant on December 22, 2009

Patients treated at Physical Therapy of Los Gatos love that they can visit the clinic’s web site for online video demonstrations of their prescribed exercises. These videos reinforce the instructions patients receive during their visits, reduce the number of calls from confused patients that the clinical staff must handle, and improve clinical outcomes by showing patients how to do their prescribed exercises correctly. Biotech lab systems providers can develop sales leads at low cost by using video to demonstrate product applications. Web-hosted video also provides on-demand passive learning opportunities to the many customers that just will not read the manual.

After someone else shot these videos, I scripted the voice-overs, recorded two takes with Physical Therapy of Los Gatos principal Rob Naber reading. I used QuickTime and iMovie to strip ambient audio from the videos, and to add cuts gaps, and repeats as needed to sync the tracks.

As elements of the clinic’s content marketing strategy, the videos draw existing and new patients to the site with high-quality instructional material.
